Defition of stupid: A girl I saw today wearing one of these new breast cancer awareness/research funding t-shirts and smoking outside the lecture today.
What a damn thicky. A Damn Thicky.
Anyone who points out that breast cancer is not directly tied to cigarettes in the same way that say lung cancer or cancer of the throat are can get stuffed.
Also watched North by Northwest, I wasn't particularly thrilled by it. Frankly the "really scary plane attack" scene, was about as scary as Max.
I did like the film, but it just wasn't as thrilling as I had been led to believe. I'm not sure if I prefer Vertigo to it, but I think Vertigo was far more scary. There was some weird shit going on in Vertigo. North by Northwest had none of that.
It did have some funky dialogue though, and a couple of great shots. Cary Grant is cool, and after scanning the memorable quotes section of imdb for a section to err, quote, I not found the one I was looking for, but found many that are good. Infact just reading them reminded of just how good the dialogue was. I demand you all run across and read the quotes, some won't make a whole lot of sense without having seen the film, but tough, they are worth perusing.
The plot is pretty cool, and I could certainly see them doing a remake of this at some stage. At its heart the plot itself is rather simple, even if it is all about McGuffin. The score is very good, especially for the drink driving sequence (which is very silly.)

There are neat bits of foreshadowing, etc. Admittedly, I can't actually remember what those bits were, now, but they were there. I thought it was good. I don't know whether I'd rave about it, though --- it sucks when people overenthuse about a movie at you, leading you to have high expectations which are then cruelly dashed.
