Well.... Here I am sitting at work. That's right, you heard me W-O-R-K. Not such a filthy word as Ben would have us believe. Although, if they didn't pay me, I doubt I'd be here. Here is Attitude Group for those that are wondering. You've never heard of them, probably, unless you are in the market for what we are selling, which YOU dear readers aren't. But who cares. And if anyone asks the views and opinions of me do not represent the views and opinions of them, you, the mayor, Mick Jagger or even me.
I am an entry level web monkey, which is not a bad place to be. It should allow me to turn some of my generic computer geek skills into specific hot coding skills. I'm working with PHP and MySQL, which is a good time.
I found this job last year when an ex POLS grad student asked one of the lecturers (Matt) if he knew any computer type peoples that might be looking for a bit of work. Lecturer man pointed to me, and I did a few hours work for the man. Then I "worked on my thesis" and didn't really talk to the man much. But when I finished my thesis I emailed Geoff (known to some of you, and a friend of Lis' brother) and asked him if he had any work needed doing. He told me to come in the following Monday.
I figured he would problably have a few hours of work or something, but no. He had heaps. I now work Mondays, Tuesdays and often Thursdays. Which is shib. Conveniently Glen has been giving me a ride to the Art Gallery most morning before work, and then I walk down to just behind Washington Way to start around 0930. Work through till around one, one thirty when we wonder the streets looking for lunch en masse. And when I say en masse, I mean all six of us, and of those only half actually work for the same company, the other three work for a different company which we share office space with. When we wander the streets we find ourselves surrounded by bakeries. For truely light industrial is the land of bakeries.
I work till around 1830-1900, which is good, because stopping at five means less money, and also means I get to hang out in rush hour traffic. Plus unlike Hell on Earth, I don't feel a strong desire to flee the battle after an eight hour shift, most likely because this is better.
In general this is a good time. It is now a month since I handed in the "thesis," and I'm employed enough hours to pay rent (finally) and slowly pay off my debt. Also, it allows me to BUY things. W000000t. Buying things (as opposed to stuff) is something I haven't done for ages. I bought a little PCI modem for ongoing computer troubles, and in high fashion news, a new pair of jeans. Oh yeah baby, new jeans. I have worn my old jeans into the ground, every day all day for about 90% of winters for the last few years, and finally after many moons new jeans for me. I don't think I have ever been this excited about clothes. Not because the jeans are exciting per se, but because I got to buy them with this money thing, which as Homer's brains tells us, can be exchanged for good and services. Shib.
A month without a blog huh? Not likely... ok well possibly, and for the pedants out there it is a month and a few hours since last I posted, but still, time for something.
Something of this nature I should think.
Alas, I'm going to pull a Ben no post post, and simply make with the mumbo.
That's right people, move along, move along, nothing to see here. Nothing at all.
