Rah! My RAGE ticket has arrived. I’m all aboard the groove train. /toot toot.
So, after some ebay lurking I went ahead and bought now a ticket to RAGE. ROCK. I am very clever, so I bought now, the wronger of two. Silly me. I was prevaricating over GA or seated, and eventually went to hell with it, seated is OK, and the GA tickets keep going for ~$400, and that is too much. I paid $260, which is too much too (initial cost $100), but too bad. That will teach me to be a thickie and confuse the “when they go on sale.” Although I wasn’t planning on standing in the queue for 12 hours, so unless the Internet was gogo, and not go-slow, then I would probably have missed out anywho.
In conclusion w00t I got a ticket. RAGE RAGE RAGE. Yay I’m excited. BDO is on Monday, I’ll be there, but I’m not even whelmed at this stage. But with two compadres in tow, I’ll have to make an effort.
In Bad Rock news, The Nightwatchman is INDEED doing a Melbourne show. And yes, tickets sold out three weeks ago. What the?! I even did the right thing of signing up as a fan, and going on the forums asking if he as going to play a Melbourne standalone gig after I discovered RAGE would be playing BDO. So BOOO how come I didn’t “get in the know”? I hold someone responsible. I will attempt to camp out at the venue “the tote” and see what I can see. But if the forums failed me, really what hope for man? (To ebay batman!).
PS. Facebook failed me (miserably). It better get with the program.
PPS. Mog got DMCAed! BOOM went the lawyers, boom boom smack. As far as I’m concerned, that makes him pretty cool. If only he could tell us about it… Alas. It looks like he is now Prolific (aha). Rumour (on the Internets duh) has it there is a radio interview. Mebbe someone will link it up for us.
The Bravia ad song Heartbeats is pretty cool. Jose Gonzalez’s cover is however, inferior to the original. I may well have linked them before. But meh. I was reminded of this by seeing the video in a strange bar in town, and by Mog’s sister in a strange restaurant. And now, I (re)mind you.
At quiz last night, MCS declared me gay for getting down to Downtown by Dusty Springfield, but it appears to be by Petula Clark, who, as I’m sure everyone knows is the “most successful British female solo recording artist and is cited as such in the Guinness Book of World Records.” Yeah, k.
In my defence I declared my love of the song based on Short Circuit 2 and the Simpsons episode. Sadly YouTube fails me on content for either of those. Ben is most likely to blame.
At this time I would like to give “mad props” to WP’s autosave feature. Oh yes indeedy.
‘Safe Ebola’ created for research… Yeah, safe. Safe like FIRE. I’ve watched Resident Evil, and I’ve watched Ben play Resident Evil (He is the master of unlocking) and unless I get me some telekinesis, I want no “safe” killer deadly biohazard thingies. Well, not on my island. Or my Ireland.
Shaky Cam + ZOMBIES (and maybe COBRAS)
I’m coming home tomorrow. For antics. Specifically, Si and Des’. I’ll be home till Sunday 20th. Now you know. Hide whatever you value, as you see fit.
Tomorrow Melbourne is set to hit 41. Christchurch? 17. Oh GOOD ONE Neal.
Waz’s birthday is coming up. I perennially miss it. Largely his fault, to be sure. But this year we shall overcome.
And, a link with your coffee: Nursery Crime.
Dave, in far off islands, flags the issue that stuff.gen.nz was in a dire way, and at risk of freezing over. Well, in a post drought kind of way, you know… like that. In a surprise move Heq came out of left field to declare himself alive and well and living in Auckland. And Dave did his bit to keep the portal alive and pulsing. I didn’t. But now I am. Pulse, pulse, pulse. It doesn’t help that Ben’s blog(s) don’t ping stuff on updates, but given his lack of posts it is kind of a moopoint. Aha, first of my many not so subtle segues to suggest that Mr Mason better realise that September ain’t recent enough, even while he tricks us into thinking that it has (at least) 77 days… What’s my point (Vanessa) not a lot. But here I am, rambling and doing my bit for world peace and wasted time on inane Internet discourse. Oh wait, let’s criticise Mog – Mog your moblog is sad…
This post at Gamers with Jobs, got a lot of loving. It’s about the experience of witnessing someone awesome unleashing their skills on Guitar Hero 3. Specifically their skills on Through the Fire and Flames on Expert Mode. While you can read the article with only a vague notion of how Guitar Hero works, here are some videos to demonstrate the horror. Which, as usual, needs some demonstrating. And some more commas, the original song by the “power metal” band DRAGONFORCE (awesome) and their lead singer has not the charisma, and the lyrics are soft like sissies. But their guitarists do appear (to my untrained eye) to have the skills (of an artist) witness them. They also have big hair, so they’re pretty much guaranteed to be more rock and roll than I. Despite my efforts. If you want to witness (the fitness) jump to 3:21 when the madness comes to the fore. For the guitar hero variants, you can see Conrad’s ego trip which would be a lot better if their was no audience. Like this one, with a nine year old…
The NY Times has its 2007 photo selection up, as does Magnum. Not sure if that is the “proper” 2007 selection for Magnum, seems to cover a bunch of people who’ve died… The NYT’s is good though.
At some point, presumably in 1997/8 I bought a CD by Third Eye Blind, which I’m sure you’ll remember producedSemi-Charmed Life, but I’ didn’t buy the album for that, I bought it for Jumper. I’d sort of forgotten about the song till recently, then it took me ages to remember what the hell song it was. But thanks to some obscure googling, I worked it out. Man it’s awesome. OK it isn’t necessarily awesome (in your opinion), but the minute long instrumental bit that starts (in that link) at around 2:23 is fucking cool. Says me. I remember hearing it on the radio and turning it up loud while parked at the Riccarton lights Straven road. Er, yes. Go listen to it, even if you skip to the cool section.
According to WP I have 1,003 posts and 1,099 comments. And that’s super, because comments are where it’s at. This ego needs feeding baby, and comments feed the flames. Rather sad really, but true. They might also sooth the savage beast. That job is probably left to The Offspring and hard rock, but maybe comments get a look in.
It’s 3:33AM Sunday morning, and 28 degrees. That’s hot. Like fire. Ben has hopefully left the pub he was in. They made him pay a cover charge. When I get back to Christchurch I’ll be having words to them, of this you can be certain.
PS, Kruse’ blog continues to rule. “01 Jan – got up just in time to start hoping nobody would arrive for lunch. Nobody did. ” His tour of South America was almost certainly more interesting than mine will be (one day), but I guess I have some footsteps to follow:
And the centre of the city [Ciudad Perdida (The Lost City)], with a stone throne. Which rhymes. So I figured the rhyme must be a signal that I should sit on the throne naked.
Seems reasonable to me.
To quote Dan, from June 2nd, 2005, this post soon to be replaced by things exploding a real boy post. Also, Mog, WP has a new version available :)
